The Mattenalpsee is a reservoir in the canton of Bern in Switzerland .

The Mattenalpsee lies at the upper end of the Urbach valley (upper Haslital ) at 1875 m above sea level. M. below the Gauli Glacier in the eastern Bernese Oberland .
Surroundings
The Mattenalpsee is fed by the water from the Gauli Glacier through the Urbach and is only dammed in the summer months.
The Gaulihütte ( 2205 m above sea level ) of the Swiss Alpine Club (SAC) is in the vicinity .

A mountain lake rich in fish with a volume of 2 million m³. Brown trout, rainbow trout and brook trout are caught. The water of the Mattenalpsee is used by the Handeck 2 and Handeck 3 and Innertkirchen 1 electricity companies.
