Goran Gavrančić (Cyrillic Горан Гавранчић ; born August 2, 1978 in Belgrade ) is a Serbian football player . He currently plays for the Serbian football club FK Partizan Belgrade . His position is central defense.

Career

He played for FK Vinča from 1988 to 1990 . He then moved to a youth team of the Serbian top club FK Red Star Belgrade and played there until 1995. Then he played again for two years at FK Vinča. In 1998 he committed the FK Čukarički Stankom , where he played for the club until 2001. In early 2001 Dynamo Kiev signed him. With Kiev, the central defender was able to win the Ukrainian championship four times and the Ukrainian cup three times. In January 2008 the Serb was loaned to PAOK Thessaloniki for six months and a year later he moved to FK Partizan Belgrade .

Gavrančić was part of the “Fantastic Four” of the Serbian-Montenegrin national team alongside Ivica Dragutinović , Nemanja Vidić and Mladen Krstajić . The four defenders set a new record: they conceded only one goal against Spain in the 10 qualifying games for the 2006 World Cup . At the World Cup itself, however, it didn't go at all for Serbia-Montenegro, they were the worst team at this World Cup and were knocked out in the group stage with a goal difference of 2:10. Gavrančić took part in all three games and has not played for the national team since.
