Gaylen Ross (* 15. August 1950 as Gail Sue Rosenblum in Indianapolis , Indiana ) is an American film producer and film director for documentaries and former actress .

life and career

Ross was born in Indianapolis, Indiana in 1950 and grew up in a Jewish family.

Her career began as an actress in the horror film Zombie as Francine by director George A. Romero . She falsified her résumé believing that this was the only way to get the role of Francine; in fact, she had no previous acting experience and took acting classes while filming. In the film itself, she did not want to be seen as a scream queen and saw in her role a strong woman and refused the stage direction to scream in danger. For the sequel Zombie 2 (1985) she was responsible for the casting in New York . In 1982 she stood in front of the camera for the horror film Madman as Betsy , under the pseudonym Alexis Dubin. In the same year she starred in the indexed episode film Creepshow , directed by George A. Romeo who filmed a comic by Stephen King with. She also had two cameo appearances on the television series Walker, Texas Ranger .

Gaylen Ross worked from 1989 as a director for documentaries and was partly responsible as a producer. In 2008, her documentary Killing Kasztner was released , which was about the life of the Hungarian journalist Rudolf Kasztner during the Second World War . Caris' Peace was released in 2011 and was named Best Documentary at the Athens International Film and Video Festival in Ohio in 2012.

Ross founded her own film production company, GR Films.
