History and architecture

The building was erected in 1902/03 and replaced a previous building from 1862 to 1864. The infirmary hospital was named after its founder Heinrich Wilhelm Müller , owner of the chicory factory Müller and Weichsel . Old and sick people were admitted to the hospital.

The three-and-a-half-story plastered building was built according to plans by Wilhelm Berner and Reinh. Beer in the style of the German Neo-Renaissance . The building rests on a high basement and, with its representatively designed three wings, is reminiscent of a palace complex. There is a high medium risk and side risk . The central projection includes the entrance portal framed by columns and is crowned by a large gable. The windows of the house are designed as Gothic tracery windows , as basket or segment arch windows. There are also curtain arches . The facade is characterized by the change in the type of plastering. So come smooth , suede and wave plaster used. The building also has curved ornamental gables. The building is covered by a hipped roof . Loggias were added to the side projections, but these were later closed.

From 1931 the building belonged to the Sudenburg hospital. In the house today (as of 2017) is the medical directorate with medical controlling, quality management and risk management, the outpatient department and stations 1 and 2 of dermatology and venereology, parts of the finance and controlling division, the main blood donor fund, the Otto von Guericke staff council -University and the Association for Severely Ill Children and Their Parents V. housed.

The old people's home is listed in the local monument register under registration number 094 76864 as a monument .

The building is a typical example of a private foundation building from the Wilhelminian era .
