Memorial to the deportation of the Jews from France

The Mémorial de la Déportation des Juifs de France ( Hebrew יָד לְגֵרוּשׁ יְהוּדֵי צָרְפַת Yad le-Gerūš Yəhūdey Tsarfat , German 'memorial for the deportation of the Jews of France' ) is a memorial in Israel to commemorate the deportation of the Jews from France during the time of National Socialism .

The memorial near Neve Michaels

The memorial is located in a pine forest near Bet Shemesh near the moshav Neve Michael in the Elah Valley , which here belongs to the Mateh Jehuda District Council . The site was built on the initiative of the Association des Fils et Filles des Déportés Juifs de France (Association of Sons and Daughters of Jews Deported from France), chaired by Beate Klarsfeld and Serge Klarsfeld , and opened on June 18, 1981. The concept was developed by Simon Guerchon. The memorial measures 100 meters in length and 13 meters in height. On July 16 (anniversary of the raid in the Velodrome-Vélodrome d'Hiver in Paris), the members of the Aloumim (עֲלוּמִים, Association of Israeli Children Who Hid in France During the Shoah) their relatives at the memorial.
