Except those listed in the following table memorials, memorials, monuments, museums, archives and special educational institutions in the present 16  states exist in Germany , among others, the following memorials and projects:

  • The Stolpersteine campaign , a project started by Gunter Demnig , is intended to use many small memorials to remember the fate of the people from where they were deported to be murdered by the National Socialists.
  • The “Initiative Gedenkbuch” recommended by several German ministries for attention in schools by the Berliner Verein Gedenkbuch e. V. suggests memorial plaques for Nazi victims in all German schools (from their respective environment).
  • The purpose of the Train of Remembrance campaign is to commemorate the deportation of several hundred thousand children from Germany and the rest of Europe on the rail network of the former Reichsbahn to concentration and extermination camps in many places in Germany. The project officially began on November 9, 2007 in Frankfurt / Main.
  • With the Memory Loops project by Michaela Melián , a virtual monument was artistically implemented for the first time. In addition to a radio play, you can listen to corresponding soundtracks on your mobile phone at various locations in Munich, based on reports from contemporary witnesses from 1933–1945. Memory loops are available with 175 audio tracks in English and 300 German audio tracks; it was awarded the Grimme Online Prize in 2012.

  10. In the years 1944 and 1945 14 babies were "killed" in Otterndorf. The 14 children of Eastern European forced laborers were "killed" in a shed at the Otterndorf district hospital. "The killing in a roundabout way ran through targeted malnutrition, neglected hygiene, lack of medical care." The chairman of the association "Future through Remembrance", Reinhard Krause, states that this was a dark chapter that no one wanted to hear. “The graves of the 14 children in the Otterndorfer Friedhof were closed in 1968 and leveled. ... It was only 35 years later that Otterndorf made an attempt to publicly revive memory. On Memorial Day 2003, after a long political struggle, a memorial stone was inaugurated in the cemetery with the inscription 'In memory of all children who lost their lives through war and violence'. ”The 14 children remained nameless. A brass memorial with the names of the dead forced laborers was inaugurated on May 8, 2009: a sculpture by the artist Rachel Kohn - a dark cloud over a child's bed and below the plate with the 14 names. "With the memory of the fate of the 14 children we can hopefully awaken the critical spirit in the children and young people of today." (Sources: Nordsee-Zeitung, November 17, 2014, p. 18; Nieder-Elbezeitung, December 29, 2014 , and Shocked at the atrocities .
