Stara Gradiška ( German Altgradisch ) is a place in the Brod-Posavina County in Croatia and the seat of the municipality of the same name.
geography
Stara Gradiška is located on the left bank of the Sava across from Gradiška . The municipality has an area of 78 km² and, with the exception of the main town, is rural.
history
The town of Gradiška was founded in the 13th century at the Sava crossing and was initially called Gradiški Brod . After Nova Gradiška was founded in 1748, the Austrian (Croatian) part of the old town north of the Sava was given the name Stara Gradiška to distinguish it.
In World War II, which was located in the central warehouse in Stara Gradiska of the Jasenovac concentration camp .
population
Seven places belong to the municipality: Donji Varoš, Gornji Varoš, Gredani, Novi Varoš, Pivare, Stara Gradiška and Uskoci.
At the 2011 census, the community had 1,363 inhabitants, of which 327 lived in the main town.
