Firgas is a municipality with 7,455 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2019) on an area of 15.33 km² on the Canary Island of Gran Canaria . It is located west of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria . The neighboring communities are Moya in the west and north, Arucas in the north and east and Valleseco in the south.

economy

Firgas was already known in earlier times on the entire island for the water springs in the nearby Barranco de La Montaña . Even today, the mineral water from the Agua Minerales de Firgas bottling plant is sold all over the Canary Islands.

Attractions

In 1995, several Spanish artists designed the Paseo de Gran Canaria in the city center - a promenade that has become a popular excursion destination. With elaborate tile art, the 21 municipalities of Gran Canaria are represented in the lower part, each with its own ceramic bench . In the upper part are the seven Canary Islands, also shown with tiles.
