Dubrowka ( Russian Ду́бровка ) is an urban-type settlement in the Bryansk Oblast in Russia with 8015 inhabitants (as of October 14, 2010).
geography
The place is about 70 km as the crow flies north-west of the administrative center of Bryansk Oblast on the Sescha, a right tributary of the Desna , about 10 km above the mouth.
Dubrovka is the administrative center of the Rajons Dubrovsky and seat of the municipality Dubrowskoje gorodskoje posselenije. In addition to Dubrowka, the municipality includes the villages of Davydchichi, Dubrowka, Fjodorowka, Nemer, Poboinaja, Ponisowka, Potryassovka, Seschtscha, Tschekalina Sloboda and Tuschewo, as well as the settlements Kalinin, Lipowka, Minakow, Nowy Swet, which are up to ten kilometers away.
history
The place was created in 1868 in connection with the construction of the initially private Oryol - Vitebsk railway around a station built there, named after the village of the same name, just under three kilometers to the south. From the 1880s onwards, several forest, food and light industries were established at the station.
In 1924 Dubrowka became the administrative seat of a Volost , in 1929 one of the rajons that emerged from it. In 1931 the place received the status of an urban-type settlement.
During the Second World War , Dubrowka was occupied by the German Wehrmacht from August 8, 1941 to September 24, 1943 .

Dubrovka has a train station at kilometer 215 of the Orjol - Bryansk - Smolensk railway that opened in 1868 .
The federal highway R120 passes a good five kilometers southeast of the settlement and follows the railway line from Oryol to Smolensk and on to the Belarusian border.
