Holocaust Education Center

The Holocaust Education Center was founded in 1995 by Makoto Ōtsuka, a clergyman who met Anne Frank's father personally in 1971 . It is the only educational institution in Japan that has specialized in the subject of the persecution of Jews in Germany and Europe from 1933 to 1945 . In addition to a collection that tells the history of European Jews in the first half of the 20th century using objects from all over the world, it contains a section dedicated to Anne Frank . On International Holocaust Remembrance Day 2011, an offshoot of the chestnut tree that grew in front of Anne Frank's hiding place was planted in the center's garden.
