Treblinka [ trɛˈbliŋka ] is a village with about 270 inhabitants in Poland . Treblinka is a place in the municipality ( Gmina ) Małkinia Górna ( Powiat Ostrowski in the Masovian Voivodeship ).

Treblinka is located near the Western Bug about 75 km northeast of Warsaw .

history

From December 1941 to July 1944 at the latest, the Treblinka I forced labor camp was located near Treblinka . Another camp was set up the following year.

In the Treblinka extermination camp (Treblinka II) , which was built a few kilometers away on the railway line in 1942 , well over 700,000 and, according to scientifically proven estimates, up to 1.1 million people from all over Europe were murdered during the National Socialist era .

Treblinka was the first death camp in which prisoners dared a revolt, the Treblinka revolt against the SS guards and the Ukrainian guards ( Trawniki ). After the Jewish uprising in the Warsaw Ghetto in the spring of 1943, survivors of the uprising and a.
