The canton of Bussière-Badil is a former canton in the Arrondissement of Nontron ; he was in the extreme north of the Dordogne department in the area of the Geutigen region of Nouvelle-Aquitaine in France .
As part of the 2015 regional reform, the former cantons of Nontron , Bussière-Badil and parts of the canton of Saint-Pardoux-la-Rivière were merged to form the new canton of Périgord Vert Nontronnais .
founding
The canton was founded on March 4, 1790 as part of the establishment of the départements as part of what was then the "Nontron District". With the establishment of the arrondissements on February 17, 1800, the canton was redesigned as part of what was then the arrondissement of Nontron.

geography
The canton Bussière-Badil was 139.09 square kilometers and had 3,644 inhabitants (as of 2006).
More important rivers in the canton are the Tardoire (border river to the Charente department) with its left tributaries Bandiat and Trieux . The drainage generally takes place to the west towards Charente .
The canton borders in the north on the canton Montembœuf in the arrondissement Confolens in the department Charente , in the northeast and east on the canton Saint-Mathieu in the arrondissement Rochechouart in the department Haute-Vienne , in the south on the canton Nontron and in the west on the canton Montbron in the arrondissement Angoulême in the Charente department .
