The canton Champagnac-de-Belair was 2015 a French constituency in Arrondissement Nontron in the Dordogne and in the region of Aquitaine . Its main town was Champagnac-de-Belair , the last representative in the General Council of the Département was Christian Mazière, who was a member of the DVD from 2001 to 2015 .
The canton was 133.13 km² and had (2008) 3,108 inhabitants, which corresponded to a population density of 23 inhabitants per km². It was on average 166 meters above sea level , between 100 m in La Gonterie-Boulouneix and 240 m in Villars .
geography
The canton bordered the cantons of Nontron and Saint-Pardoux-la-Rivière to the north, the canton Thiviers to the east, the canton Brantôme in the Périgueux arrondissement to the south and the canton Mareuil to the west .
A special feature is the exclave-like protuberance of the municipality of La Gonterie-Boulouneix , which is separated from the core area of the former canton.
The main flood in the former canton is the Dronne , which flows south . It takes the Côle as a left tributary at the southwest corner of the canton . Just before this confluence, the Trincou, coming from the northeast, flows into the west-facing Côle as a right branch .
The Mareuil canton was the border canton of the Périgord-Limousin Regional Nature Park .
