The canton of Belvès was a French canton in the arrondissement of Sarlat-la-Canéda , in the Dordogne department and in the Aquitaine region until 2015 .

history

The canton was founded on March 4, 1790 as part of the establishment of the départements as part of what was then the "Belvès District". With the founding of the arrondissements on February 17, 1800, the canton was redesigned as part of what was then the Sarlat arrondissement.

geography

The canton bordered the canton of Saint-Cyprien to the north, the canton Domme to the east, the canton Villefranche-du-Périgord to the south and the cantons of Monpazier and Le Buisson-de-Cadouin , both in the Bergerac arrondissement, to the west .
