The canton of Lanouaille was a French canton in the Arrondissement Nontron in the Dordogne department in the Aquitaine region until 2015 .
history
The canton was founded on March 4, 1790 as part of the establishment of the départements as part of what was then the "Nontron District". With the establishment of the arrondissements on February 17, 1800, the canton was redesigned as part of what was then the arrondissement of Nontron.

geography
The canton bordered in the northwest with the canton Jumilhac-le-Grand , in the northeast with the canton Saint-Yrieix-la-Perche in the arrondissement Limoges in the department Haute-Vienne ( Limousin ), in the east with the canton Lubersac in the arrondissement Brive-la- Gaillarde in the Corrèze (Limousin) department, in the south to the canton Excideuil in the Arrondissement Périgueux and in the west to the canton Thiviers .
