Gediminas Paviržis
Gediminas Adolfas Paviržis (born January 21, 1941 in Vilnius ) is a Lithuanian politician and former mayor of the municipality of Vilnius as well as a sports official.
Life
After graduating from high school from 1954 to 1958 at the 8th Kaunas Middle School , he studied at the Kauno politechnikos institutas from 1958 to 1963 and at the Vilnius party college from 1987 to 1990 .
From 1990 to 1991 he was an advisor to the Lithuanian government , from 1992 to 1996 a member of the Seimas , from 1997 to 1998 the AB “Achema” , from 2001 to 2003 he headed the Vilnius district , was mayor in 2003 and deputy mayor of Vilnius from 2003 to 2007 . Since 2007 he has been a member of the Council of Vilnius Rajong Municipality .
From 1990 he was a member of the Lietuvos Demokratieinė darbo partija , since 2001 the Lietuvos socialdemokratų partija .
From 2005 to 2010 he was President of the Chess Federation of Lithuania (LŠF). In 2007 he was elected for a second term.
