action

The miner Taura is arrested on the planet Arous (known from The Eyes of Satan , 1957) because she burned the hand of Captain Bantor with hot lava during an attack. She is sentenced to an extended stay on the prison spaceship Vehemence. The sadistic prison guard Exene rules there. Bantor is also assigned to the ship. He is supposed to develop a mind control machine that turns people into zombies without their will.

Taura wins the trust of the inmates and rebels against the sadistic guards. Together the women manage to escape. In a space battle they can eventually defeat their former oppressors.

background

The monster from The Deadly Spawn (1983) is used in one scene of the film . Various films were also used for the costumes and special effects. Some of the costumes come from the films Metalstorm - The Destruction of Jared-Syn (1983) and Planet des Schreckens (1981). A Land Rover, on the other hand, comes from the Logan's Run series (1977). In addition, scenes from the films Dark Star (1974), Buck Rogers (1979) and Sador - Rulers in Space (1980) were inserted into the film.

The film was shot over two weekends in Roger Corman's studio . With John Carradine and Aldo Ray , Fred Olen Ray was able to sign two old stars.

The old VHS version of the film was released in May 1988 and contained three cuts. The film was later checked again by the FSK and released uncut from the age of 16. On December 7, 2018, the film was broadcast on Tele 5 as part of the film series The worst films of all time (Schlefaz) .

Reviews

The film is considered a trash film and has not been positively reviewed outside of connoisseurs and lovers of the genre. The film service called the film a "[a] nasty women's prison film, whose stereotypical plot was shifted into space." Cinema.de awarded one of five stars and gave the conclusion "Krampfstern Girlnacktica: Top-Schrott!" .

Markus Haage gave the following conclusion on the neonzombies horror fan page: “As I once said in a previous review of an Olen-Ray film: there are good, bad and involuntary trash films. This is all the fine art of '80s trash. Almost like Olympus. "
