Ross Hagen

Ross Hagen , actually Leland Lando Lilly (born May 21, 1938 in Williams , Arizona , † May 7, 2011 in Los Angeles , California ) was an American actor and director .

Life

Hagen was born as Leland Lando Lilly to Lando Irvin Lilly and Mary Alice Johnson. He grew up on a farm in Oregon . Prior to his acting career, he served in the US Army .

Hagen's acting career began in the 1960s with episode roles on the television series Big Valley and The People at Shiloh Ranch . Hagen has been used in a variety of role types over the course of his career. He played sheriffs, police officers and private detectives as well as insurance agents, officers and artists.

From 1968 to 1969, until the end of the series, he took on the recurring series role of Bart Jason in the US cult series Daktari . He played the former big game hunter Bart Jason, who now works as a tour guide for photo safaris. In the 1970s and 1980s, he had episode roles in the series Bonanza , Smoking Colts , Mannix , Cobra, Take Over , Kung Fu , Cannon , Bret Maverick and A Colt just in case , among others .

Hagen was also seen in numerous movies ; however, the focus of his activity has tended to be on television throughout his career. In the cinema, Hagen was used almost exclusively in B-movies .

Hagen played, among other things, in the thriller Die Satansengel von Nevada (1968), directed by Maury Dexter . He played the role of husband Jeff Logan, who is being terrorized on his ranch by his old biker clique. In 1969 he was seen alongside Elvis Presley in the action and music film Speedway ; he played Speedway driver Paul Dado, Presley's adversary. He had other cinema roles as insurance agent Mike Harber in the thriller Wonder Woman (1972), as a former miner and gangster in the crime thriller Bad Charleston Charlie (1973), as private detective Cory Thorton in the action and crime film Die Vergelter (1985) and as US Army Captain Jason Briggs in fantasy clothing The island of the giant dinosaurs .

In the 1990s he was, directed by Fred Olen Ray , as a police investigator and private detective in several crime films and erotic thrillers; among others, the softcore stars Tané McClure , Tim Abell and Shauna O'Brien were his partners several times.

Hagen has also worked as a director (including The Glove ), as a screenwriter and film producer, as a director for The Glove (1979) and in 2005 as a director, screenwriter and actor in the mystery thriller Murder on the Yellow Brick Road .

Private

Hagen was married twice; he had two children from his first marriage. With his second wife, the actress Claire Polan († 2003), Hagen was married from 1963 until her death. Together with Polan, he temporarily ran a private drama school. Hagen died of prostate cancer at his Brentwood home at the age of 72 .
