On each wing cover there is a broad, ocher yellow, slightly wavy longitudinal stripe. The dark intermediate field on the elytra tapers only slightly. Occurrence

The yellow-striped coal flea is native to the Palearctic . The species is widespread in Europe. It occurs throughout Central Europe and is common. The species was introduced in Australia.

Way of life

The beetles are seen (in the northern hemisphere) from April to October. Food and host plants of the beetle species are various cruciferous vegetables (Brassicaceae), including garlic mustard ( Alliaria petiolata ). Reseda and brook bungees ( Veronica beccabunga ) are used less frequently as host plants . The adult beetles overwinter. The eggs are usually laid in May or June. After about 10 days, the larvae hatch , mines in the leaves of their host plants and need about two weeks for their development. The beetles eat holes or scrapes (window damage) in the leaves of various crops, such as cabbage , turnip rape and rape , and are therefore considered pests.

Natural enemies

As parasitoids of the larvae of Gelbstreifigen Kohlerdflohs apply jewel wasps of the genus Eulophus and Brackwespenart Bracon guttiger . The brackish wasps Diospilus morosus and Perilitus aethiops parasitize the adult beetles. Among the predators of the beetles include swifts .
