Convoy PQ 2
The convoy PQ 2 was an allied northern sea convoy that was put together in Liverpool in October 1941 and brought goods essential to the war effort to the Soviet Arkhangelsk . The Allies suffered no losses.
Composition and securing
The convoy PQ 2 consisted of seven cargo ships. On October 13, 1941, he left Liverpool ( Lage ) in the direction of Arkhangelsk ( Lage ). The convoy's commodore was the captain of the Orient City . The security took over the cruiser HMS Norfolk , the destroyers HMS Icarus and HMS Eclipse and the mine sweepers HMS Bramble , HMS Seagull and HMS Speedy . In the White Sea, the mine sweepers HMS Gossamer , HMS Hussar and HMS Leda were added.
