The Gelmerheide nature reserve is located in the area of ​​the independent city of Münster in North Rhine-Westphalia .

The area extends northeast of the core city of Münster. The B 219 runs to the west, the Dortmund-Ems Canal flows to the east . The 228.2 hectare nature reserve (NSG) Rieselfelder Münster extends to the north and the 10.45 hectare NSG Huronensee to the east .
