Choje Lama Gelongma Palmo ( wylie : chos rje bla ma dge slong ma dpal mo ཆོས་ རྗེ་ བླ་ མ་ དགེ་ སློང་ མ་ དཔལ་ མོ །;) * (pronounced Tschödsché Lama Gélongma Palmo) (born 1970 as Sabine Januschke in Vienna ) is one of the few female lamas of Buddhism and the only non-Asian female Choje Lama in the 2,600-year-old history of Buddhism.

Chöje Lama Palmo teaches the Dharma in a contemporary and easy-to-understand way. In addition to her spiritual and social responsibility, she is also active in a variety of different ways.

Choje Lama Palmo was sent to Austria in 2004 by her congregation and her supreme head, HH Chamgon Kenting Tai Situpa to teach the Dharma. She established Palpung Europe with institutes in Purkersdorf near Vienna and Langschlag in the Waldviertel , the European headquarters of the Chamgon Kenting Tai Situpas and the Palpung Line, whose headquarters are in exile in northern India. She is the Head Lama of Palpung Europe and its institutes.

Life

Choje Lama Palmo graduated from the Vienna Business School , studied German and Romance languages ​​at the University of Vienna and graduated in Germanic Medieval Studies . As a media expert she worked as a freelance journalist, in PR and as a photographer until her monastic ordination.

She studied at the Palpung Sherab Ling monastic seat in India from her first contact with Buddhism in her early twenties and received all of her traditional training in her monastery. In 1998 she received her first monastic vows and entered the traditional Kagyu three-year retreat in KTD, USA in 2000. Immediately after it ended, she was sent to Japan in 2004 and to Austria that same year. In December 2004, she received full monastic ordination of a Gelongma ( Tib .: dge slong ma , དགེ་ སློང་ མ །) or bhikkhuni within a Mahayana lineage.

In 2006 she met the Dalai Lama and Gyalwa Karmapa Orgyen Trinley Dorje in private audiences. Both gave their advice and blessings for Lama Palmo's projects. In 2007 she was appointed director and teacher in residence of Palpung Yeshe Chökhor Ling Europe by Chamgon Kenting Tai Situ Rinpoche .

On July 22, 2013, Lama Palmo was named Choje Lama by Chamgon Dorje Chang Tai Situ Rinpoche . On November 5, 2014, she received the Traditional Tibetan Certificate of Appointment from the 12th Chamgon Dorje Chang Tai Situ Rinpoche .

She established and heads Palpung Europe, the European seat of the Palpung Congregation , with institutes in Purkersdorf near Vienna and Langschlag in the Waldviertel . Palpung Europe are Buddhist institutes and practice communities of the Palpung lineage of Vajrayana .
