Community of Missionaries

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The community of mission helpers ( en . : Medical Mission Secular Institute ) is an international secular institute in the service of the Catholic Church based in Würzburg . The self-definition is: “We are a secular institute and work in healing and social professions. We live in community in order to share our faith and to strengthen and encourage one another for our tasks ”.

history

The community has existed since 1954 as a church community of women, this community stood under the motto "Heal the sick who are there and proclaim: The rulership of God has drawn near" ( Gospel according to Luke 10.9 EU ). The helpers took on tasks at the Medical Mission Institute in Würzburg , where they were trained and prepared for their missionary work . Her main tasks consisted in working in mission hospitals , running nursing schools and working in various medical fields. The helpers were also active in social and pastoral work. In 1961 the first sisters in India made their promises . An Indian and a German region have existed since 2004. In 1976 the community was recognized as an institute of consecrated life in the form of a secular institute of diocesan law . The range of tasks and the motto have changed in the meantime. The biblical approach is now the Gospel according to Mark 3:14 EU , here it says: "And he put twelve that he had with him and that he wanted to send out to preach." The life of the members is the message Jesus Christ and the evangelical counsels aligned, the common path is prayer , spiritual conversation and spiritual accompaniment as well as the celebration of Holy Mass .

Missions

While the missionary helpers in Germany take care of foreign women in need, care for old and sick people and fellow sisters, their work in India and Ghana has not changed. In India they lead several projects at hospitals, in educational institutions , in leprosy stations , in student aid and work in the slums . In Ghana, the missionary helpers are in charge of the hospital in Eikwe ( Nzema East District ).
