Gemma Jackson
Gemma Jackson (* 1951 in Guildford , Surrey , England ) is a British production designer and production designer .
Life
Jackson served as production designer on both Bridget Jones - Chocolate for Breakfast and the sequel Bridget Jones - On the Edge of Madness . Her most successful project so far was her collaboration on the film When Dreams Learn To Fly , for which she received her first Academy Award nomination in 2005 .
“It was hit tremendously, most of the changes were for the better. The scale that we can represent is so much larger than it was years ago. For example, being able to retouch modern blemishes to create roads is very useful and very inexpensive. But we have to be careful not to let VFX do the art department; there must always be clear limits to who is responsible for what. The production designers should be involved as much as possible in the creation of set extensions. Far-sighted views that tell stories but may be done in VFX can still be created in the art department. It would be a tragedy and a mockery for VFX to rule the art department - and I have to say that there is a risk of this happening in some cases. "
Jackson is married to Andrew McAlpine, who is also a production designer .
