meaning

The term mainly summarizes the engineer officers of the Air Force . These were assigned to the Reich Aviation Ministry (RLM) or employed directly there. Each general engineer received a technical assignment, such as B. Procurement or engines / engines. Some of the general engineers were also employed directly at companies:

These were led by a general staff engineer . From August 1940 until the end of January 1943, he was Dipl.-Ing. Roluf Lucht (1901–1945). From 1933 he was head of the technical office in the Reich Ministry of Aviation. Lucht himself had been promoted to general engineer in early July 1939.

However, general engineers were also named for other branches of service . For example, the chief construction director Karl Weis was in June 1944 general engineer with Commander -in -Chief West or Karl Klugar (1912-1997) general engineer in Army Group North . In the army, the general engineer had the right to visit all construction sites and to inspect documents.
