Life

Fischer joined the Bavarian Army as a volunteer on August 10, 1914 and served at the beginning of the First World War, initially in the 1st Replacement Battalion of the 7th Infantry Regiment "Prinz Leopold" and from September to November 1914 in the 21st Reserve Infantry Regiment. Regiment . He then switched to the replacement battalion of the 21st Infantry Regiment "Grand Duke Friedrich Franz IV of Mecklenburg-Schwerin" , where he remained until May 1915.

On May 13, 1915, Fischer began pilot training with the Bavarian Air Force Replacement Department in Schleissheim , which lasted until the end of October 1916. This was followed by a two-month training at the Military Aviation School 4. On December 20, 1916, Fischer became a pilot in Combat Squadron 34 and, from February 13, 1917, in the same position in Schutzstaffel 25 . From the end of March 1917 to October 8, 1917, he served again in the Bavarian Aircraft Replacement Department in Schleißheim and was transferred back to ground combat from October 1917, where he served in the replacement department of the 21st Infantry Regiment “Grand Duke Friedrich Franz IV. von Mecklenburg-Schwerin ”was used. On November 1, 1933, Fischer joined the Luftwaffe, which was in the process of being secretly established, and until the end of February 1934 acted as a consultant for the inspection of the flying schools in the Reich Ministry of Aviation . From March 1, 1934 to the end of February 1935, Fischer was Technical Director of the Celle Air Base . He then served from March 1935 to mid-September 1938 as the first consultant in the inspection of the sea pilots in Kiel and then from September 15 to the end of July 1939 as chief engineer at Luftgaukommando VI (sea). On August 1, 1939, Fischer returned to Berlin and worked there until February 9, 1940 as Luftgauingenieur III and from February 10, 1940 to November 30, 1941 as Luftgauingenieur XI in Hamburg . On December 1, 1941, Fischer became chief engineer at Luftflottenkommando 1 and held this post until April 2, 1943, when he was killed in a plane crash near Riga. He had previously been appointed general engineer on April 1, 1942 .
