General B. Power’s is a dancefloor project founded in 1993 by the music producer and composer Stephan Blumenrath from Bamberg .

history

This was preceded by musical / artistic activities in the early and mid-80s. Breakdance came to Europe from the USA, carried and influenced by a new kind of sound that was created by icons of their time such as Grandmaster Flash , Newcleus , Midnight Star , The SOS Band and others. a., was accompanied.

Inspired by this electrifying music and the acrobatics that go with it , he founded the breakdance formation "The Worms & The Crazy Handlegs" (1983–1987). At this time he also played as a DJ in the then scene clubs "Palm Beach" (Sandstrasse Bamberg, 1985) and "Movie" (Ertl-Zentrum Hallstadt, 1986).

After a musical break (1988–1991) he met the musician Dieter Staub in early 1992. The music project "Exmix Corporation" emerged from the subsequent collaboration. Influenced by the emerging Euro-Dance wave at this time, several demo productions were created before the different musical orientations and ideas made themselves significantly noticeable. At the end of 1993, a mutual decision was made to go their separate ways again.

Several self-composed demos were immediately produced, and in the spring of 1994 he initiated the solo project "General B. Power's". Almost simultaneously, he signed the first contract with CRI-LEX Records and the debut - CD Love So Beautiful was published in the same year. The first television appearance took place in 1995 on Franken television . The music video of the same name, filmed and produced independently and with significant support from Gunter Heinlein (TomCat) (backdrop: ruins of the rock baths Pottenstein ), which was supported by Gabi Troidl and the dance group "Power For Peace", was finally presented by MTV Europe .

In order to improve the live performance , the music has now also been given a professional choreography , and the 1995 tour of Germany started. The project was completed by Pam (Petra Müller) and Sheila (Zehra Burek), who were primarily responsible for the choreography and the dance interludes. After disagreements with the record company, they separated in late 1995, and the project was renamed "General B. Power's - The New Generation". Vocally , Silvia Sebald ( Amadas ) (former duet partner of Drafi Deutscher - Phoenix & Aphrodite ) could be won over, who gave the project a special note thanks to her characteristic and unmistakable voice. At this time, the producer Michael Roth-Bock also joined the team and worked significantly on numerous songs and remixes for the music project, so that the Victory Tour 1996 could start promptly . “The flagship” was the follow-up single Give Me Your Hand (Label: AMG), newly recorded in the Völker Studios in Bamberg, with the video of the same name, the realization of which was largely thanks to Saschko Frey. The tour covered several major cities nationwide.

There were also joint appearances with stars of the time, such as B. Captain Hollywood , Down Low , Just Friends , 20 Fingers and the like. a. The tour was so successful that there should be a sequel with expanded choreography and more song material soon. For this purpose, they met with Christian Preissig ( Schlot ) in his studio and at the end of 1996 they produced the songs Fearless , We're gonna meet the Sun and Promised Lies . At the same time, the prepared songs I Cry , Let The Groove Begin and Is Anybody Outhere were produced in their own studio . Everything was ready to go when something unexpected happened: The “ Euro-Dance wave”, which had spread like a conflagration in the early 1990s, collapsed unexpectedly and abruptly at the beginning of the middle of 1997. A new "musical current" was heralded by artists like DJ Quicksilver , Robert Miles , SASH! u. a. has been interpreted. Due to this completely changed situation, a continuation of the tour could no longer be held. New concepts and sounds were needed, and since the existing project could not be adequately restructured, it was gradually shut down. In 1998 it ended as an independent project.

In the same year three new projects emerged: "Nash Attack & General B. Power's", "On The Way & General B. Power's" and "Code Q & General B. Power's".

Despite increased demand, a “ remake ” of the “General B. Power's” project is not planned.
