Genlisea glandulosissima is a carnivorous plant from the genus of trap traps inthe water hose family (Lentibulariaceae). It isnativeto Central Africa.

description

Genlisea glandulosissima is probably perennial , herbaceous plant . The bare leaves are in a dense, native rosette, 10 to 25 millimeters long and 4 to 5 millimeters wide, spatulate and blunt at the end. The numerous traps reach a length of 30 to 50 millimeters.

The upright, unbranched inflorescence axis is 6 to 14 centimeters high, circular in cross-section, densely covered with long and short-stalked glands and non-glandular hairs standing in rows, there are also numerous scale leaves. The bracts are egg-shaped-lanceolate, tapering to a point and reach a length of around 1.7 millimeters, the bracte are lanceolate and shorter. On the inflorescence there are ten to twenty close-up flowers on upright, 3 to 5 millimeters long stalks that continue to grow during flowering and strongly bent back to the fruit , which are densely covered with long-stalked glands.

The calyx is five-lobed and almost divided up to the base, the individual lobes are almost uniformly shaped, ovate, elongated-round, blunt, up to 2 millimeters long and densely covered with long glandular hairs. The crown is 6 to 9 millimeters long, its color ranges from purple to purple, the throat is yellowish. The upper lip, which is up to 2.5 millimeters long and 2 millimeters wide, is oval-shaped, oblong and round and tapers towards the upper, trimmed and notched end, on the outside it is densely covered with long glandular hairs. The clearly three-lobed lower lip is around 2.2 millimeters long and 3 millimeters wide. The spur is 3 to 4 millimeters long, it is densely covered with long glandular hairs.

The crescent-shaped stamens are about one millimeter long, the ovary hairy round and dense with long-stalked glands, the stylus is short, the scar einlappig and semicircular. The round capsule fruit opens along elongated slits and has a diameter of 2.5 to 3 millimeters and releases numerous, less than 1 millimeter long, egg-shaped to approximately round seeds .

Distribution and location

Genlisea glandulosissima is native to Zambia ; it grows there in permanent peat bogs on iron crust soils .

Systematics and botanical history

It was first described in 1914 by Robert Elias Fries on the basis of material collected in the same year. The complete, dense and glandular hairiness of the inflorescence axis serves as a diagnostic feature. Like all African species, Genlisea angolensis belongs within the genus in the Genlisea section .

The species was only collected six times in total.
