Gennaro Basile (* 1722 in what was then the Kingdom of Naples ; † July 22, 1782 in Brno , Moravia ) was an Italian painter and draftsman.

Life

There is no information about the exact place of birth and his artistic training. He emigrated to Austria; he lived in Pressburg (now Bratislava ) , among other places . There he married Katharina Jelinek. Further stations:

  • In 1752 (approx.) Basile worked for the Esterházy family in Hungary.
  • In 1753, a daughter was baptized in Sopron , Hungary .
  • 1755 (approx.) He works in Salzburg , Seekirchen am Wallersee .
  • In 1766 he is listed as court painter to the Archbishop of Prague.
  • In 1780 he settled in Brno , but was also active in Austria, probably in Melk .
