Gennaro Basile
Gennaro Basile (* 1722 in what was then the Kingdom of Naples ; † July 22, 1782 in Brno , Moravia ) was an Italian painter and draftsman.
Life
There is no information about the exact place of birth and his artistic training. He emigrated to Austria; he lived in Pressburg (now Bratislava ) , among other places . There he married Katharina Jelinek. Further stations:
- In 1752 (approx.) Basile worked for the Esterházy family in Hungary.
- In 1753, a daughter was baptized in Sopron , Hungary .
- 1755 (approx.) He works in Salzburg , Seekirchen am Wallersee .
- In 1766 he is listed as court painter to the Archbishop of Prague.
- In 1780 he settled in Brno , but was also active in Austria, probably in Melk .
Works
- Between 1742 and 1746 made Basile drawings Serbian and Croatian soldiers from the Spanish and Silesian War of Succession as a template for the etchings of Christian Wilhelm on.
- Around 1750 "Portrait gallery of the Styrian nobility" for Hainfeld Castle
- 1756 Oil sketch for the altarpiece of the chapel of Seeburg Castle , Seekirchen (in the Archbishop's seminar Borromäum ).
- Self-portrait, Schloss Leopoldskron , Salzburg.
- 1755 Death of St. Rupert, ceiling painting, chapel of Seeburg Castle, Seekirchen.
- 1755 Madonna enthroned with Saints Friedrich and Rupert, altarpiece in the Seeburg Castle chapel, Seekirchen.
