Gennaro Pardo (born April 12, 1865 in Castelvetrano ; † September 4, 1927 there ) was an Italian painter in Sicily .

Life

Pardo studied law at the University of Palermo in 1884 , where he made friends with the painter Francesco Lojacono . This encouraged Pardo to turn to painting. After completing his law degree in 1890, he went to Naples as a soldier , where he then studied figurative painting under Domenico Morelli and Filippo Palizzi at the Istituto di Belle Arti . He learned landscape painting in Palermo with Lojacono. In 1898 he returned to his hometown and from 1900 to 1901 created frescoes in the Chiesa di San Giovanni Battista. Work followed in the area of Trapani .

In addition to fresco painting in churches and history paintings for public buildings, he painted portraits, landscapes, marine pieces and still lifes or designed backdrops for the theater in his hometown.
