Gentil Diniz Barreto

Gentil Diniz Barreto (born November 23, 1910 in Olinda ; † October 9, 1988 ) was a Brazilian clergyman and Roman Catholic bishop of Mossoró .

Life

Gentil Diniz Barreto was ordained a priest for the Diocese of Nazaré on June 23, 1933 .

Pope John XXIII appointed him on November 3, 1960 Bishop of Mossoró . The Archbishop of Olinda e Recife , Carlos Gouvêa Coelho , donated him episcopal ordination on September 21 of the same year . Co- consecrators were João de Souza Lima OCist , Archbishop of Manaus , and Otàvio Barbosa Aguiar , Bishop of Campina Grande .

He attended the first, second and fourth sessions of the Second Vatican Council as a council father.

On March 14, 1984, Pope John Paul II accepted his early resignation.
