Carlos Gouvêa Coelho

Carlos Gouvêa Coelho (born December 28, 1907 in Paraíba , Brazil , † March 7, 1964 ) was a Brazilian clergyman and Roman Catholic Archbishop of Olinda e Recife .

Life

Carlos Gouvêa Coelho was ordained a priest on February 9, 1930 .

Pope Pius XII appointed him on January 10, 1948 Bishop of Nazaré . The Archbishop of Paraíba , Moisés Ferreira Coelho , donated him episcopal ordination on May 2nd of the same year ; Co- consecrators were the Bishop of Niterói , João da Matha de Andrade e Amaral , and the Bishop of Caicó , José de Medeiros Delgado .

On December 14, 1954, he was appointed Bishop of Niterói. Pope John XXIII appointed him on April 23, 1960 Archbishop of Olinda e Recife. He participated in the first two sessions of the Second Vatican Council as a council father.
