Antônio de Almeida Moraes Junior (born June 26, 1904 in Sapucaí-Mirim , Minas Gerais , Brazil , † November 12, 1984 ) was Archbishop of Niterói .

Life

Antônio de Almeida Moraes Junior received on 2 October 1927, the sacrament of Holy Orders .

On September 29, 1948, Pope Pius XII appointed him . to the Bishop of Montes Claros . The Apostolic Nuncio in Brazil, Archbishop Carlo Chiarlo , donated him episcopal ordination on December 12 of the same year ; Co- consecrators were the Bishop of Campinas , Paulo de Tarso Campos , and the Bishop of Taubaté , Francisco do Borja Pereira do Amaral . The inauguration took place on January 31, 1949.

Pope Pius XII appointed him on November 17, 1951 Archbishop of Olinda e Recife . The inauguration took place on March 19, 1952. On April 23, 1960, Pope John XXIII appointed him . to the Archbishop of Niterói. The inauguration took place on August 21 of the same year.

On April 19, 1979, Pope John Paul II accepted Antônio de Almeida Moraes Junior's resignation.

Antônio de Almeida Moraes Junior attended the first, second and fourth sessions of the Second Vatican Council .
