Geoffrey Arthur Holland Pearson

Geoffrey Arthur Holland Pearson (born December 25, 1927 in Toronto , † March 18, 2008 in Ottawa ) was a Canadian ambassador .

Life

Pearson joined the foreign service in 1952. He studied at Trinity College School, the University of Toronto and the University of Oxford . He was accredited to the embassies in Paris and Mexico City , as well as the High Commission in New Delhi .

In late 1983, Pearson was appointed Special Arms Control Representative to Pierre Trudeau's government, and in 1984 he was seconded to the Canadian Institute for International Affairs. From January 1985 to 1991 he was the executive director of the think tank , Canadian Institute for International Peace and Security .

Pearson was chairman of the United Nations Association in Canada . In 2000 he became an officer in the Order of Canada .

Pearson was the son of Maryon Pearson and Lester Pearson . With his wife, Landon Pearson, he had five children, including Patricia Pearson and Michael Pearson.
