Geoffrey G. Jones

Geoffrey G. Jones (* 1952 ) is a British historian who researched corporate history .

Life

Jones studied at Corpus Christi College of the University of Cambridge , where he obtained a Bachelor of Arts (Honors), a Master of Arts and a Ph.D. From 1977 to 1979 Jones was a Research Fellow at Corpus Christi College. He then taught from 1979 to 1988 at the Economic History Department of the London School of Economics as a lecturer . From 1988 to 2002 he was Professor of International Business History in the Economics Department of the University of Reading . From 1999 to 2002 he was visiting professor at the Erasmus University Rotterdam . From 2000 to 2002 he was also active at the Harvard Business School of Harvard University as Thomas Henry Carroll-Ford Foundation Visiting Professor of Business Administration . Since 2002 he has held the chair of Isidor Straus Professor of Business History at Harvard Business School. Jones was also visiting professor at Gakushūin University and Universidad de los Andes .

He has been a Fellow of the Royal Historical Society since 1991 and of the Academy of International Business since 2009 , and has received honorary doctorates from Copenhagen Business School and the University of Helsinki . In 2000 and 2005 he won the Wadsworth Prize for Company History.
