Georg-Christof Bertsch

Georg-Christof Bertsch (born May 30, 1959 in Seeheim-Jugenheim ) is a German university professor and corporate identity consultant .

Life

Bertsch studied art history at the TU Berlin and founded the first German design management office together with Matthias Dietz in 1988 . In 1990 he and Barbara Friedrich wrote the Ambiente Euro Design Guide , the first German lexicon on contemporary design. In 1997, together with Hans Höger , Christian Möller and Markus Weisbeck, he launched www.euro design guide.de, one of the first German design platforms on the Internet. In 1995 he founded Bertsch & Bertsch Corporate Design Corporate Communications GmbH together with his wife Annette . In 1996 he was together with Hans Höger curator of Attitudes for the Next Millennium at the International Aspen Design Conference .

Teaching

Since 2005 he has been a visiting professor for design management in the Design Master course at the Bezalel Academy of Art and Design in Jerusalem. From 2006 to 2013 he was visiting professor at the Istanbul Technical University . In 2005 Bertsch became a visiting professor at the Department of Architecture at the Düsseldorf University of Applied Sciences (Peter Behrens School of Architecture) and in 2007 at the Department of Product Design at the University of Design in Offenbach am Main . There, together with Petra Kellner, until her retirement in 2019, he ran the Offenbach International Project Platform , a globally active, cross-disciplinary work platform for sustainable design. In December 2008 he was elected honorary professor for life by the Senate of the Hochschule für Gestaltung, Offenbach . In this voluntary activity, in addition to teaching, he carried out practical projects and conferences. From September 2010 to 2012 he was Head of Global Water Group of the Cumulus Organization, a global association of design schools. Together with Kai Vöckler and Peter Eckart, he founded the Mobility and Logistics Design Institute at the Offenbach University of Design at the House of Logistics & Mobility in 2014 . In 2017 he hosted the international conference on design and language formation non-word .

Volunteering

Bertsch was President of Design Horizonte e. V. in Frankfurt am Main. From 2004 to 2011 he was deputy chairman of the board of the State University of Fine Arts - Städelschule Portikus e. V., Frankfurt; until 2012 he was a member of the Städelschule board of trustees of this organization. On May 27, 2008 he was elected as the first German to the Board of Governors of the Bezalel Academy of Arts and Design in Jerusalem; Re-elected in 2011. Since September 20, 2011 he has been a member of the board of trustees of the Weltkulturen Museum, Frankfurt am Main. On April 13, 2018, he was appointed to the five-member advisory board of the German Design Club e. V. elected.
