from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Georg Caspari (born April 17, 1683 in Riga , † April 12, 1743 in Riga) was a German-Baltic Protestant theologian and preacher in Riga.

Georg Caspari was the son of theologian David Caspari (1648–1702) and brother of the Riga councilor Melchior Caspari (?? - 1743). Another brother was Johann Caspari (1680–1708), who, like Georg, studied in Rostock . From 1703 Georg Caspari studied at the University of Rostock . In 1713 he also obtained the degree of Magister there at the Philosophical Faculty. At the same time the reception at the Philosophical Faculty took place. It is not known how Caspari subsequently worked, whether he possibly gave lectures at the university or held other jobs. Before he returned to Riga in 1723, however, he stayed in Rostock and Greifswald . Returning to Riga in 1724 he became a deacon at the local cathedral , in 1725 archdeacon at St. Petrikirche , in 1736 weekly preacher and in 1738 chief weekly preacher.
