Georg Christopher von Schlippenbach (* 1645 ; † October 5, 1717 ) was Land Marshal in the Duchy of Courland and Semgallia , member of the Oberrat and Oberburggraf von Mitau . He came from the old Westphalian noble family von Schlippenbach , which had also spread to Prussia , Sweden , Pomerania and the Baltic States .

Life

His parents were Christoph I. Freiherr von Schlippenbach (* 1611, † September 29, 1668) and Margarethe von Fölckersam († 1658), whom he had married for the second time. In his first marriage his father was married to Anna Maria von Manteuffel called Szöge-Katzdaugen , from this marriage Christoph Karl von Schlippenbach (born January 1, 1624, † January 27, 1660) emerged.

Georg Christopher was born in 1645, in 1661 he moved with the German physician Johann Jacob Döbel (1640–1684) to the Jesuit School in Wilna and made extensive trips with him through the Baltic provinces , after which he returned to the Duchy of Courland . Here, under Duke Friedrich Wilhelm Kettler (1698–1711) , he devoted himself to state politics in the Duchy of Courland and Semigallia. From 1710 to 1711 he was Land Marshal and in 1711 was appointed Oberburggrave in Mitau. He was a member of the duke's upper council. On May 13, 1710, he was awarded the order “de la reconnaissance ”, which was donated by Duke Friedrich Wilhelm.

Georg Christopher marries Magdalena Elisabeth von Buddenbrock , their only son Carl Christoph von Schlippenbach († September 27, 1734) was baron and heir of Sahlingen. Their daughter was Beate Elisabeth († 1745).
