Georg Dünninghaus

Georg Karl Dünninghaus (born June 28, 1893 in Hamburg , † April 9, 1953 in Chemnitz ) was a German KPD functionary, resistance fighter against National Socialism and functionary in the early German Democratic Republic (GDR). In 1945/46 he was managing director of the Berliner Zeitung .

Life

Dünninghaus, the son of a carpenter , joined the KPD in 1919. In 1923 he took part in the Hamburg uprising as head of the KPD intelligence service, the so-called anti - military apparatus (M apparatus) .

From 1926 to 1931, Dünninghaus was General Secretary of International Workers Aid (IAH). From January to April 1931 he served a prison sentence. In 1933 he was a candidate for the Prussian state elections , but could no longer run after the National Socialists came to power and communist activities were banned. He was briefly an instructor for the KPD district leadership on Wasserkante in Hamburg, was then arrested and taken into so-called protective custody for six months without a judgment .

In November 1938, Dünninghaus was arrested again and sentenced to one and a half years in prison. After his release he worked as an export manager for a cloth retailer. From 1941 he was a member of the resistance group around Anton Saefkow . On January 28, 1945 he was arrested again by the Gestapo in Guben . However, he managed to escape from prison in Frankfurt (Oder) and he was able to go into hiding until the end of World War II .

1945/46 was Dünninghaus manager of the daily newspaper Berliner Zeitung , then 1947 board member of the Berlin consumer cooperatives . In 1952 he became director of the German Textile Trade Center in Chemnitz.
