Georg Ernst Sigismund Hennig

Georg Ernst Sigismund Hennig (born January 1, 1749 in Jauer , Lower Silesia , † September 23, 1809 in Königsberg i. Pr. ) Was a German Lutheran theologian .

Life

Hennig was enrolled on October 13, 1767 at the Albertus University of Königsberg to study theological sciences. After completing his studies, he went to Tharau as a pastor in 1770 . His inaugural sermon dealt with the service of Jesus, a true honor of man (Königsberg 1771). In 1775 he moved to the Löbenicht Church as a deacon . In 1776 he became second court preacher at the castle church (Königsberg) and in the same year pastor at the Löbenicht church. In 1783 he became director and supervisor of the Wallenrodt library .

The Royal German Society (Königsberg) elected him president in 1790. He was also appointed superintendent and East Prussian consistorial councilor of the churches and schools in Königsberg in 1796 . In 1802 he was appointed second full professor of theology at the Albertina and doctor of theology, in which capacity he also participated in the Alma Mater's organizational tasks as prorector of the alma mater in the 1808/09 winter semester . Hennig already retired in 1808 and died in office.
