Georg Friedrich Fuchs also Georges Frédéric Fuchs (born December 3, 1752 in Mainz , † October 9, 1821 in Paris ) was a German clarinetist , composer and conductor .

Life

Georg Friedrich Fuchs, who came from a family of clarinetists, learned to play the clarinet, bassoon and horn in his youth before becoming a member of various military bands. Fuchs was a composition student of Johann Christian Cannabich and, according to unsecured sources, also of Joseph Haydn . In Zweibrücken he was the head of the military miscarriage and worked as an instrumental teacher and composer. In 1784 he moved to Paris and worked there as a musician and composer. In 1793 he received a higher rank in the music band of the national guard and was in the guard, teacher "first class" for sheet music and clarinet. In 1795, when the Paris Conservatory was founded , he taught the same subjects there until his post was lost in 1800 due to job cuts. Fuchs wrote mostly for wind instruments, often including the clarinet as a solo instrument. After his release, he earned his living through arrangements and compositions for daily needs. His works have been printed by various Parisian publishers, including Jean-Jérôme Imbault , François-Joseph Naderman and Jean-Georges Sieber .
