Georg Gregersen de Saàg (born March 26, 1853 in Gran ; † February 8, 1905 in Budapest ) was a Hungarian engineer , industrialist and general manager of the construction company G. Gregersen & Sons .

Life

Georg Gregersen was born as the son of Gudbrand (Guilbrand) Gregersen and Luise Sümeg, who immigrated to Hungary from Norway . After finishing school, he studied engineering at the Charlottenburg Business Academy and in the summer semester of 1871 became the first foreigner to join the Saxon Association, later the Corps Saxonia-Berlin.

After completing his studies, he joined his father's company based in Budapest, which was renamed G. Gregersen & Sons and was appointed General Manager. G. Gregersen & Sons became the largest company in Hungary of its time with a focus on the construction of railway lines including dams, tunnels, bridges and stations. Together with his brother Ödön he set up a branch in Prague .

Georg Gregersen, together with his parents and siblings, was raised to the Hungarian nobility by Emperor Franz Joseph I in 1884 for their services in building the flood protection facilities around the city of Szegedin . From this point on, the family had the addition of de Saàg . Georg Gregersen is buried in the family mausoleum in Budapest.
