Georg Hägemann
Georg Hägemann (born January 6, 1844 in Hanover , † September 20, 1892 in Baden-Baden , also: George Hägemann ) was a German architect , member of the Bauhütte zum white sheet and, alongside Ferdinand Wallbrecht, played a key role in the redesign of downtown Hanover.
Career
After studying at the Polytechnic School in Hanover from 1860–1864, Georg (e) Hägemann first became a teacher at the Holzminden building trade school , then second director of the Hanover Construction Company in Hanover . In this function, he was one of the great redesigners of downtown Hanover from 1879, alongside Wallbrecht.
Work (incomplete)
Hägemann mostly built residential and commercial buildings, often in the neo-Gothic style . Particularly noteworthy are:
- 1866–1868: Langensalza memorial in the cemetery in Bad Langensalza to commemorate the battle of Langensalza
- 1883–1887: Palacio Legislativo (legislature building) in La Plata , Argentina (together with Gustav Heine )
- 1889–1891: Children's hospital in Hanover, Ellernstrasse
- 1891–1894: Administration building for the German Military Insurance Company in Hanover, Rathenaustraße / Landschaftsstraße (together with Wilhelm Hauers , today part of the Deutsche Bank AG building complex )
