Wilhelm Hauers
Wilhelm Hauers (born February 10, 1836 in Celle ; † April 27, 1905 in Hamburg ) was a German architect and co-founder of the Lower Saxony construction works , and later the Hamburg construction works .
Career
Wilhelm Hauers studied at the Hanover Polytechnic from 1852 to 1855 . Here he joined the Landsmannschaft Slesvico-Holsatia, later the Corps Slesvico-Holsatia , in 1853 . In 1858 he was made an honorary boy. After completing his studies, he worked in Conrad Wilhelm Hase's office , among other things as site manager for the Christ Church in Hanover . His "portrait" is symbolized on this church as a gargoyle with a boar's head (= the boar's "tusks"). In 1860 he was a co-founder of the Lower Saxony Bauhütte and was later made an honorary member of its successor, the Bauhütte zum Weißen Blatt .
From 1866 Wilhelm Hauers worked for the building deputation in Hamburg and went into business there in 1871. During this time he became a co-founder of the Hamburger Bauhütte . He was also a member of the Hamburg Artists' Association from 1832 .

Hauers designed numerous buildings of various types, as well as fountains, tombs and furniture.
- 1864–1865: Gym of the Gymnastics Club in Hanover (TKH) in Hanover, Maschstrasse (together with Wilhelm Schultz )
- 1880–1882: St. John's Church in Hamburg-Harvestehude
- 1886–1888: Portals of the New Elbe Bridge in Hamburg (together with the architect August Pieper and the engineer Franz Andreas Meyer )
- 1888–1889: Sundt department store , Bergen (Norway)
- 1886–1897: City Hall in Hamburg (as a member of an architects' working group, the so-called " City Hall Builders Association")
- 1891–1894: Administration building for the German Military Service Insurance Company in Hanover, Rathenaustraße / Landschaftsstraße (with Georg Hägemann ; now part of the Deutsche Bank AG complex )
- 1900: fourth building of the Alsterpavillon in Hamburg (replaced by a new building in 1914)
