Georg Heinrich Henrici , also Georg Henrici (born March 17, 1770 in Goslar ; † September 10, 1851 ibid) was a German philosopher as well as a Protestant clergyman and theologian .

Life

Henrici was the son of a Goslar pastor . He received his early education through private lessons and at the Goslar Latin School . In 1788 he went to the then very popular and prominent University of Jena . There he devoted himself mainly to the study of philosophy. In the meantime returned to Goslar, he was on 28 October 1797 in Jena with the dissertation de Wollastonis top morali to Dr. phil. PhD and shortly thereafter qualified as a professor . He then taught as a private lecturer at the university there. His teaching activities at the university ended after the battle of Jena in 1806 .

Henrici returned to Goslar. He worked as a private scholar and writer , primarily in the field of legal philosophy , and later also as an assistant preacher. His appointment as professor of practical philosophy at the University of Wittenberg failed in the 1810s due to the closure of the university. At the request of the community, however, his activity as assistant preacher earned him a second pastor's position at the Goslar market church in 1817 and thus secured his livelihood. In 1828 he advanced to the first parish office and at the same time became city superintendent in Goslar. He remained a prolific writer throughout his life, producing a wide variety of writings.

Henrici had strong support from the population in Goslar. This was shown, for example, in 1831, when, after a liberal New Year's sermon, the rumor arose that he should be arrested and the congregation was very committed to him. The market parish has a portrait of him.
