Georg Heinrich von Merz

Georg Heinrich Merz , from 1874 von Merz , (born August 8, 1816 in Crailsheim , † December 31, 1893 in Stuttgart ) was prelate and general superintendent of Reutlingen .

He studied theology in Tübingen and was a founding member of the Tübingen royal society Roigel . In 1840 the doctorate to Dr. phil. He completed the vicariate in Schwäbisch Hall and then worked in Münchingen , Magstadt , Hochdorf (Riss) , Aalen and Neuenstadt am Kocher before he was appointed pastor of Schwäbisch Hall in 1849 . In 1863 he was appointed Dean of Marbach . In 1868 he was a member of the curriculum commission and from 1869 to 1873 senior consistorial councilor . From 1869 to 1888 he was also a sovereign member of the first to fourth Evangelical regional synods.

In 1873 Merz was appointed prelate and general superintendent of Reutlingen , whereby from 1874 he was also a member of the second chamber of the Württemberg estates . He died in office. He was also chairman of the Christian Art Association of the Protestant Church of Württemberg and editor of the Christian Art Journal .
