Georg Hieronymus Welsch (also Georg Hieronymus Welschius , born October 28, 1624 in Augsburg ; † November 11, 1677 ibid) was a German medic and doctor in Augsburg.

Life

Georg Hieronymus Welsch was the son of a pharmacist and studied philology, philosophy and medicine in Tübingen, Strasbourg and Padua after attending the St. Anna high school and the Anna college in Augsburg. His study trip took him through central Italy to Rome. He then worked as a doctor in Augsburg. Due to an illness (presumably depression), regular medical work was not possible for him and led to his activities being shifted to the field of writing.

On October 29, 1676 Georg Hieronymus Welsch was registered under the registration number. 64 with the academic surname Nestor I accepted as a member of the Academia Naturae Curiosorum , today's German Academy of Natural Scientists Leopoldina .
