Georg Irrgang

Georg Irrgang (born March 31, 1860 in Kleinnaundorf ; † 1939 ) was a German journalist and writer.

Life

Georg Irrgang was born in Kleinnaundorf near Dresden in 1860 as the son of the royal court conductor Friedrich Bernhard Irrgang and his wife Emilie. He grew up in Dresden and attended the Annengymnasium there . At the Polytechnic he began to study philosophy and literature and completed his studies at the University of Leipzig . Irrgang became a writer himself and began publishing dramatic works in 1886.

In 1889 Irrgang became editor of the Dresdner Anzeiger, today the Dresden Official Gazette . There he was entrusted with the management of the local section and also wrote as an art critic. He wrote opera texts for Karl Grammann .

Georg Irrgang married Natalie Helene Pfenigwerth in 1898. Their son Heinz was born two years later.

When the Reich Association of German Writers was founded in 1933, Irrgang became a consultant for an RDS department.

Irrgang worked for decades for the Dresdner Anzeiger, which he helped shape - he headed the local section for over 35 years. As a writer, Irrgang received attention and was mentioned in the poet overviews and literary stories by Franz Brümmer , Karl Ludwig Leimbach and Adolf Bartels . He is characterized in detail as a writer by Leimbach, who also presents various of his works and praises the noble and lofty sense, but criticizes that the work is sometimes too soft, sweet and improbable.
