Karl Ludwig Leimbach

Karl Ludwig Leimbach (also: Carl Leimbach and Karl Leimbach as well as Carl Ludwig Leimbach ; * May 18, 1844 in Treysa ; † December 30, 1905 in Hanover ) was a German historian , high school teacher , theologian and literary historian , director of the high school in Goslar and a secretary Government councilor Provincial school councilor in Breslau and Hanover.

Life

Karl Ludwig Leimbach was born in Kurhessen a good two decades before the founding of the empire . After his schooling he went to Marburg to attend the university there to study the subjects theology and philology. Leimbach completed his studies with a doctorate. He received his doctorate in 1871 at the University of Rostock with the dissertation " About Commodians Carmen apologeticum adversus Gentes et Judaeos ".

From 1873 Leimbach initially worked briefly as a teacher in Schmalkalden , then in Hanover at what was then the secondary school and finally at the grammar school in Bonn , before he was appointed director of the first-class secondary school in Goslar in 1876 . In the city on the Harz he developed a human high school in addition to this institution in 1883 , with which in 1886 a “house of education” from the Loccum monastery was connected, and in 1890 a seminar for higher education institutions was also connected.

In 1894 Leimbach was appointed provincial school councilor to Breslau, from where he was transferred to Hanover in 1900.

Leimbach's numerous publications include the periodical Der christliche Schulbote, founded by his father . Weekly paper for Protestant teachers and teachers' associations in Germany that he published from 1882 to 1888. From 1901 Leimbach also acted as editor of the weekly Haus und Schule, which appeared in Hanover from 1868 .

According to the address book, city and business manual of the royal residence city of Hanover and the city of Linden , the Lic. Th., D. ph. Karl Leimbach, among other things, member of the Provincial School College , holder of the Red Eagle Order 4th class and Knight of the Royal House Order of Hohenzollern in diamonds . For 1906, Leimbach's regular office hours were given at two different addresses: from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. at Brandstrasse 23 and from 3 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Simsonstrasse 2 .
