Georg Krukenberg

Georg Peter Heinrich Krukenberg (born December 16, 1856 in Halle , † December 4, 1899 in Bonn ) was a German gynecologist .

Life

Georg Krukenberg came from an old family of scholars; his ancestors included the doctors Peter Krukenberg , Dietrich Kieser and Johann Christian Reil .

After studying in his native town hall Krukenberg 1879 received his doctorate in Göttingen Dr. med. A year later he took a position at the University Clinic in Bonn , habilitated as first assistant doctor there three years later as a private lecturer in gynecology and was appointed professor in 1894 . As the head of a private gynecological clinic , he was also practically active. Krukenberg examined the influence of baths at different temperatures on body heat, the origin of the amniotic fluid, and the kidney secretions of the embryo . He also suggested measures to prevent congenital conjunctivitis in infants and presented his observations on hysteria.

Georg Krukenberg was married to Elsbeth Krukenberg-Conze (1867–1954), a daughter of the Berlin archaeologist Alexander Conze , who emerged as a women's rights activist and book author after his untimely death. They had three sons together: Gustav Krukenberg , Ernst Krukenberg, Werner Krukenberg.

The sculptor Arnold Kramer created the Krukenberg grave memorial with a marble relief of the doctor for the central cemetery in Braunschweig.
